Eynesbury

Eynesbury is master-planned to become self-contained, environmentally sustainable Township and offers recycled water to all homes from the nearby Surbiton Park. A dual reticulation system supplies homes with class A recycled water and drinking water through separate pipes.

The Class A recycled water will be delivered to the projected population of 9,000 for residential use, including toilet flushing and garden watering, recreational irrigation and fire fighting thereby reducing drinking water use by up to 50 per cent.

Gardens will be maintained as Permanent Water Saving Rules do not apply to recycled water. Residents will be able to make a practical positive difference for the environment and save money as recycled water is charged at the lowest drinking water tariff.

As well as reducing the demands on Melbourne’s drinking water, the town will actively decrease greenhouse emissions by connecting natural gas to all homes for domestic cooking, heating and hot water systems.

Visitors to Eynesbury drive through a pristine forest of native Grey Box where the natural sights and sounds of the landscape signal serious and soothing environmental assets.  In all some 450Ha of the area within the project will remain as conservation precincts.

A sanctuary to local wildlife, including resident populations of kangaroos and emus, Eynesbury is a nature lover’s delight. Home to rare plants and birds, including the Buloak, native indigenous grasses, the Barking Owl, Diamond Fire Tail, Swift Parrot and Speckled Warbler (all preserved under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act).
